Lucite bridge drilling jig

I've been looking for a good bridge drilling jig to replace the one developed by Frank Ford, which sadly is no longer available. This Lucite bridge pin hole drilling jig is ideal, and I've used one of these jigs in the workshop for quite a while now.

Drilling bridge pin holes accurately is not as easy as it seems. The drill always seems to move just a little while drilling, and it is very difficult to get perfectly aligned holes. It's essential to get the holes accurate - nothing looks worse than a bridge with uneven pin holes! This jig is made from 5mm Lucite, a very hard clear plastic, and will help you get perfect holes drilled for the most common bridge pin spacings. It allows you to drill accurate holes in your bridge at whatever stage you want, whether in the wood blank or in the finish sanded bridge.

Appearance may vary somewhat, but the essential specifications are as follows. Holes are accurately located for 2 1/16" (52.387mm), 2 1/8" (53.975mm), 2 3/16" (55.562mm), 2 1/4" (57.150mm), 2 5/16" (58.737mm) and 2 3/8" (60.325mm) spacing. Hole spacing on this tool is equidistant, there is no compensation for string gauge. This tool is set up for 3/16" (4.76mm) bridge pin holes.
