Sales: pickups and amplification - Vintage Jack endpins and cables

Most acoustic guitar pickups are fitted using endpin jack sockets, which take a standard 1/2" jack. Thank goodness the days of guitars with holes drilled in the sides of a guitar for an ordinary jack socket are (mostly) gone! The high quality Switchcraft units used by K & K, L.R. Baggs and the like are extremely reliable. The only drawback is that they do need a 1/2" diameter hole through the end block. This isn't a problem with Taylor and Larrivee guitars, which are manufactured with a strap button which uses a 1/2" diameter hole. Martin-style guitars, however, use a tapered endpin, which has to be removed and the hole reamed out.

For anyone who doesn't want to modify their guitar, the Vintage Jack is the only choice. A Vintage Jack is available to fit most guitars, mandolins, and similar instruments equipped with taper fit end pins.

Vintage Jack cables

  Vintage Jack

A Vintage Jack is the only way to fit an endpin jack if you don't want to modify the original tapered endpin hole. Pricey but handmade and very high quality. Vintage Jacks are precision machined in Trinidad, Colorado to match the standard taper of Martin and similar endpins. Standard models are available in brass and stainless steel. They are also available in a number of exotic materials to match the guitar or mandolin - Brazilian rosewood, ebony, fossil ivory, etc. Supplied with a 3.5mm heavy duty Switchcraft jack.

Most are available to special order, although I usually keep the brass model in stock.

High-quality mono and stereo cables (3.5mm mini to standard jack) are also available to order. These use SwitchCraft, G&H or Neutrik plugs. Mono Cables are made with Canare's excellent GS-6 cable and Stereo cables use L-4E6S star quad cable also from Canare. These cables are made up in 7.5' and 15' lengths as standard, but custom sizes are available on request.

The Vintage Jack Cable Adaptor is a handy accessory for those who want to continue the use of their favorite instrument cable or perhaps want to keep and adaptor cable in their guitar case for an emergency situation if their custom cable should get lost or left at home or simply as a backup.
